Bigger and Better Business
Established at the Tenth Anniversary Conclave in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in December 1924, Bigger and Better Business became the first national initiative of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated. The program was rooted in the mission of empowering African American entrepreneurs by promoting strong business ethics, operational efficiency, and high-quality service, enabling sustainable growth and competitiveness within the business community.
Education
Rooted in the Fraternity’s enduring commitment to academic achievement, the Education Program was formally established as an International Program following the 1945 Conclave in St. Louis, Missouri. Through a strategic restructuring of its initiatives, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated reaffirmed education as a critical pathway to success. The program provides comprehensive support to alumni and collegiate members while extending educational services to surrounding communities. Key efforts include scholarships, college access initiatives, academic conferences, mentoring, and tutoring across local, regional, and national platforms.
Social Action
Established in 1934, the Social Action Program was founded by Brother Elmo M. Anderson to address the social, civic, and humanitarian needs of underserved and marginalized communities. As a cornerstone initiative of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, the International Social Action Program is committed to developing social, political, and philanthropic leadership that strengthens both our communities and our membership.
Sigma Beta Club
Club members receive academic assistance and leadership development at the elementary, middle and high school levels. This happens through one-on-one and group approaches to tutoring of Sigma Beta Club members and after school and weekend tutoring by Alumni and Collegiate members in various academic and professional disciplines. Additionally, Sigma Beta Clubs develop partnerships with local institutions, inclusive of colleges and universities, community colleges and trade schools.
